In CO in the highest town in the U.S. Yes, we are currently kicking it at 10,000 feet above sea level for the South Park Music tour. The show last night at the V.I.P. kickoff party went great save the fact we were out of air after a few songs. Nothing the oxygen bar couldn't take care of though. We added another show tonight and one more to follow Saturday. After that we drive home and lose our minds for three straight days. Send snacks via air drop. Don't forget the pretzel rods.

So if you're havin a hard time understanding, go to the music page, click on an album, and in there will be a link for the lyrics to all the songs.. Enjoy! :)

And also, if you caught the earlier parts of the interview Willem did with Guitar Jam, then you'll be pleased to see the full interview now posted. All three new reviews are in the press section now, so head on over yall...

Shoring up many things as we write this. Not much public action in the coming weeks and scattered gigs for a while. We are really looking to get out on the road and stay there next time around and that takes a little planning. Plus we have a new album to record as well. But catch us when we are on stage and have a look at our new mixtape album to tide you over in the meantime.
03.17.2008 SXSW
Back from SXSW and laying low for a few days. The Lone Star state and its festival were a blast. A hearty hello to any who might be here as a result. If this is something you are interested in being considered for please e-mail the band off our contact page and we will pick two people at random. 01.14.2008 UK Tour Update...
Pulling into the final lap. Last gig in the UK is done and on a plane tomorrow back to the States. The tour was awesome and the UK treated us well. Thanks to everybody in England and Wales who came to see us and cheered us on. We are a little knackered as they say but in good spirits. Gonna have a live album ready for release digitally by the end of the month so keep your ears open to that and be in touch.
01.09.2008 UK Tour Update...
UK heads up: Our show at Hurst Green Village Hall this Saturday has been moved to the ever-McLovin Aspinall Arms. Please update your tomtoms. About to drive down to the southern UK gigs and the tour to date has been everything and nothing of what we expected. Little band powwow last night has us back on the same page for the most part, and today, 2pm feels like 5am. Cheers all, the van is about to pull off...
01.05.2008 UK Tour update...
We are a few days into the English tour and doing our thing. Leaving Lancaster tomorrow after 4 shows around the southwest and continuing to groove about. Much laughter, cheer, pints and interesting food have kept us going for a few days and we are on to new adventures tomorrow. We are mostly making our way in a vegatable oil fueled van and doing what we are meant to do...which is play live shows nightly. Every show has been a bit different, but all have been cool. Looking forward to playing more and spreading the laces love. The whole team is here and we are working as well as playing and we have some cool things in the hopper including a live album that will be available digitally in mid January. Rock!
12.27.2007 A friendly note...
TO THE UK: Dear friends, we are about to invade your country. Our weapons of choice are awesome. Our vehicle runs on vegetable oil. Our mission is to leave you stunned. Or amused. Hopefully both. If you are in NW England, then please join us to ring in the new year at the Aspinall Arms in Mitton Lancashire! The Ragamuffins will open the night at 9:00PM, and we will follow shortly after and play till well after midnight. Oh yes, there will be fireworks.
TO AMERICA: Dear friends, UK has no idea what is about to hit them. Our objective is clear, our mission is laid out in front of us like a wanton barmaid. We will rock them. And when we are done rocking them, we will bring back what spoils we can fit in Seth's drums.
Let the games begin.
Hey all, steer yourself over to the multimedia section to see 2 new videos. The first is an Amiestreet.com feature of our 2007 CMJ performance at the Luna Lounge in Brooklyn. The second is a new video of Seth and Rob being interviewed for Boston.tv! It was done for our win at the finals of the Starbucks Musicmakers competition. The links to the actual outside sites are below.
We're happy to announce our new membership to Fancorps! Fancorps is a hot new website designed to be an all-in-one place to join, manage, and take active part in a band's street team. You can take Street Team orders to obtain rank and credits, and even upload content you've created! Our existing street team will have to convert over to this new system, so whether you've been on our street team already, or are thinking about joining, click the street team button in the menu above to be taken to our own Fancorps site! Rock.
12.13.2007 Q Division...
In Boston. It's snowing. A blizzard in fact. Best place to be during a blizzard? In a recording studio. And that's exactly where we are. We are kicking it at Q Division in Boston with our new fav engineer Matt Tahaney just killing tracks. We "won" a few days of studio time from the Starbucks competition and it's going really well. We are set to start a full length new album in February when we return from the UK at a yet to be determined place and with a yet to determined producer, so we thought it would be a good idea to take a different approach and hit some songs for this session with the mindset of having fun and recording tracks with a different flavor then what you may be used to from us. Calling it the Dirty Birdy stuff as most of the songs revolve around sex. Not sure where it will end up yet, but I can say the stuff is coming out really, really well and surprising us all in a way. Hoping the blizzard abates as we have to be back in NYC tomorrow to play a private party. Cross fingers and stay tuned.
12.02.2007 Updates...
Pulling into the dock for the end of the year. We hope all your holiday preparations and such are going well for you. The band is currently readying themselves for a few private parties, a short stint of recording and of course our return to the UK in a handful of weeks for another tour kicking off New Year's Eve. We'll be adding content and a shine to our page herein to help send us off across the pond and keep you all tided over until our return. So stay tuned.
11.25.2007 Pre UK-tour update...
Please join us for a very special show at NYC's Delancey Club this Wednesday at 10:00PM. We are heading to the UK for a tour starting December 31st and off to work on our new album after that so this may very well be our last New York outing for awhile. So come out! We booked the night with some fine acts and it will be a good time. The Delancey tends to run on time so our 10:00PM start time is solid. See you there!
Finishing up a week or writing and recording in the lab and quite happy with the progress. Plans for the next Laces full length coming together and exciting us all. Going to continue labbing until thanksgiving and do some homework on the side. Stepping out Saturday night to play a show in NYC that should be really fun and will feature some new material. Lot's of cool things happening behind the scenes and with the UK tour and December and February studio time looming, we are busy, but having a lot of fun too. Keep an eye out for some new digital releases over the next few weeks via of some live material via fuzz.com and keep checking back for info on all the cool stuff going on. Peace to all and see you metropolitans Saturday at the show.
11.05.2007 Oh My God...
Breaking Laces is teaming up to benefit good friends Oh My God for two benefit shows this week in Upstate New York. Sadly, Oh My God was involved in an accident last month when a woman crossed the divider and hit their van head on, killing her and injuring the members of the band.
The first show is Thursday, November 8 at Mohawk Place in Buffalo, New York along with The Audience, Needle Up and The Probes. And a second show was added on Saturday, November 10 at Mojo’s in Jamestown, New York. Proceeds will help Oh My God with hospital and rehabilitation bills on their road to recovery. In addition, donations can be sent to
Oh My God c/o 2033 W Augusta Blvd. Chicago,IL 60622
10.23.2007 Oh My God...
Holed up in Brooklyn after a whirlwind couple weeks. Seth is in Aruba as Rob and I are working hard to hold down the ship and make it prettier. New video on both our myspace and fuzz pages and more stuff to come in the coming weeks. We will be off the road for a bit, minus the trip upstate to benefit our friends Oh My God, so reaching out in ways electronic as well as writing more songs is the way of the Laces for now. Keep it cool.
10.12.2007 Winner!
You know the Starbucks Musicmakers competition that we've been competing in? Well, we just played the finals last night against 10-12 insanely good bands annnnnnd.... we won. Yup, Breaking Laces are the winner of the 2007 Starbucks Musicmakers Cometition. See yall in Hawaii! 09.13.2007 Starbucks update...
Back from our musical combat mission in Northampton which ended with us getting nipped at the finish line. When all the dust settled though, we were awarded the "Wild Card" spot in the finals after the fact. So we will be appearing at the House of Blues in Boston on October 11th for the Starbuck's Music Maker's Northeastern Finals. Hurray!
09.02.2007 Happy Labor Day to all.
The band is doing what normal people do on such a weekend by attending barbeques and making nice with family and friends. We are set to run scattered gigs in the near future beginning with the second round of the Starbucks Music Makers Competition in Northampton on the 11th. So vote for our song (see below) if you have a second and if you are in the area of the show come get caffeinated and cheer us on.
08.14.2007 Starbucks Music Makers Competition...
Hey all, Breaking Laces are finalists in the Starbucks Music Makers Competition, and we now need you to help us make it all the way. It's simple, just a vote, or as many as your free time can afford! And before you start thinking it, no they won't need you to register for anything, or give an email address, or anything. Its a click and a code (to prove your not a robot). Simple and quick, scouts honor!
Here's how it works. In the music player to the left you'll see a drop down menu for locations. Click and select "Northampton, MA 9/11". Then in the list of artists, you'll see "Breaking Laces - Meagan". Select us, and then to the right above the artists, you see a "Vote" button. Click it, then enter the code to confirm you're human, and thats it! Nice and easy. Vote as many times as your heart desires. Or how about... 1 vote for every time you've listened to one of our songs. :) Seriously though, every vote helps, even the one you're about to do right now...

BLinc had a hand in booking the show, so be sure to plan to stick around for our idols the Lifetime Guarantee and Readymade Breakup. The Laces will be joining the Lifetime Guaranee onstage for some tunes (as we helped them record their album). Its going to be ridiculous. We promise.
First wave of our mega-fall tour posted in the shows section. Plenty more waves to come as we will be on the road from Oct. 1st all the way through Turkey Day. We are still in the process of booking. See a hole you and your town (or backyard) can fill? Hit us with an e-mail. Stay cool as it is ridonculously hot out there.
07.30.2006 Wanna Party?
We have a party. For you intrepid souls, we will be at the Rockwood Music Hall in NYC late tonight for Harris Radios birthday bash.
Yeah babies. We are heading up to Connecticut for a five day mini band camp to work on some new material and antics for our live show. Back in NYC on July 24th for a show at the Cutting Room. Its Robs birthday show no less and it will rock. Hard.
07.10.2006 Chewy...
Is Rob really Chewbacca in disguise? Is there a horse named after Willems manhood? Are the Laces famous in kindergartens worldwide? Find out in the newly updated Hodgepodge!
06.30.2006 Happy Fourth to all!
Booking our fall tour at the moment and working on new songs. It is a downtime in Laces land but what said time will spring forth shall be beautiful and bountiful. Blow stuff up and be patriotic.

04.26.2006 Tour news...
Tour news pouring in daily and more to come. We had to bail out of our Michigan swing for early May but our July/August tour will surely bring us up that way and into every town we are missing this upcoming trip. South Carolina was just added for May 20th with a replacement for Richmond on the way. Be sure to check the shows page regularly for updates and get ready to get Laced.
04.20.2006 Oops, did I say new Hodgepodge?
... well no I didn't, but yes there is. And for those who haven't noticed, we've updated the music section with new tunes (Click the 'Extras' album). woohaa, can't wait for tour!
04.17.2006 More new stuff added.
We love our StreetTeamers! In the photo section, you'll find Live Pics from our recent shows at the Loft in Covington KY, sent in by StreetTeamers Peyton and Eliz. Then head over to the multimedia section for some new desktop wallpapers sent in by StreetTeamer TailsAndy, and one we found from Doctor Blacknova. We've got the best fans...
04.10.2006 Website update
Check out the photos section and scroll down to the Tour Pics to see some new pics from our UK tour back in October. And to keep with the UK theme, check out the multimedia section for a promo video from the UK tour!
04.07.2006 Happy Birthday...
There's a VERY special birthday on Team Laces today... He's furry, a little pudgey, and keeps Tong company while he's writing new songs. GoGo the wunderdog is TWO today! Let the world rejoice! Seriously, it should be a national holiday. He is the unofficial Laces mascot, afterall.
04.05.2006 Odd...
It just started snowing in NYC and the Mets are undefeated. I am so confused. I used to be a Boy Scout.
03.28.2006 Spring Tour Announced, people, Spring Tour!
Well, partially announced. We're still finalizing some dates & amazing gigs, but we're really jazzed about what we've got lined up so far & couldn't wait any longer. Check it out under the "shows" tab. We're double billing with two awesome bands throughout - Conshafter and Them vs Them (members of Oh My God) - you should kick it over to their websites below.
First, Hodgepodge has been updated. Oh yes. And it doesn't stop there. We also added a new podcast to iTunes. This episode features a live recording from our show at Fibbers in York during our UK Tour. Want more? You got it! In the Merch section you will now find what you have always needed: Breaking Laces panties. Oh yeah. Stay tuned as we will soon be announcing shows for our big spring tour. Oh you didn't know about that? Well here's how you can make amends: Walk, run, drive, fly, do whatever you have to to get to NYC tonight for our final residency show at the awesome Cutting Room in NYC. Rock.
It's 60's, sunny, and randy in NYC today. As Kirsten Dunst would say, Bring It. We're feeling good. You? Spring Tour is shaping up & we can't wait to announce it... well, yes we can. So, wait. In the meantime, add us as your friend on your myspace page, would you?
We wait readied for our second residency at the Cutting Room in NYC. The next three Mondays will be a rocking. New songs coming together after a week of touring insanity in Western NY. New hodgepodge coming this week and more fun to follow. Alabama and back in April and May. Chicago and back to follow. Stay tuned and thanks for checking in.
02.27.2006 Drink up...
Happy Mardi Gras to you & yours. Long live jazz, blues, & zydeco, beignets, gumbo & voodoo.
02.14.2006 We <3 you (thanks Andy).
And instead of Breaking Hearts this Valentines day, we decided to fill yours with what it's been lacking, new Laces stuff. First, we updated the HodgePodge section with three new items for you and your lover. And for when you want that time to yourself, we updated our podcast. Yup, your iPod now has something new from us to chew on. So go to iTunes now and if you haven't subscribed to our podcast yet, do it, or we can't be held responsible (as we usually are) for your broken heart. Happy Vday.
02.10.2006 This is Harvey.
SOS. The boys have locked me up and tied me down and are using & abusing me this week. They keep referring to it as "Band Camp". Where am I? When are they going to stop? It's song after new song day in and day out... I just want to play it for the people, boys, bring it to the people.
02.06.2006 We love the Cutting Room in NYC.
Good people, great sound, bathroom attendants. And, they have returned the love. New 3-week residency set-up in March. Mondays. Check out the Shows link for the 411, baby.
02.02.2006 Street Team!
See what happens when you put Sally McSally Pants in charge of the street team. Good things. I'm pulling on all nighter. Someone make me soup!
02.01.2006 CMJ Chart Update... #66!
The Laces are TEARING up the radio charts!! Lemonade hit #66 on CMJ Top 200 this week. And, States Away was the TOP new entry on radio charts by any unsigned band countrywide! If you hear a Laces song being played on your station, call in & say "thank you" and "play it again"!!
01.30.2006 Awesome weekend of shows.
Welcome to all Saint Rosers and friends of DYVR who have logged on to check us out. Enjoy your time inside and please leave word of your visit on our message board or My Space page so we can return the favor in the form of a salutory e-mail. Fresh!
01.27.2006 Wanna help the Laces out?
Well we've updated the Radio Thingie. Each station you'll find on it now is currently spinning Lemonade. So call em up and request your favorite band. And no, I don't mean Barenaked Ladies. Your *other* favorite band, wink wink...
01.25.2006 CMJ Charts!
First week of radio release & Lemonade debuts on the CMJ Top 200 National Charts! We're all champagne-minded. Or, more appropriately, Jack Daniels-minded. We are a rock band, after all. Multiple thanks to all the college stations out there spinning Lemonade left, right & center. We love you, too. Come see us get all crazy celebratory this weekend at Scenic in NYC - check the shows link for details.
01.08.2006 Breaking Laces is now podcasting!
So if you're bored with your boring usual podcast, then step into the Laces' futuristic iPod kitchen. First show up: The 2004 tour video (a nice gesture for those of you who have the video iPod). What's next? Subscribe and find out! (it's free!)
Tonight. NYC. Cutting Room. Solo Tong & his guitar. 9:30. Not one to miss.
01.01.2006 Happy New Year!
By the way, Christopher Columbus was Italian.
12.20.2005 Hodgepodge is updated.
Considering it is Jesus' birthday next week, we thought we would give you the gift of song. Specifically a little-known Breaking Laces song called "Jesus".
12.12.2005 Update...
Back in our homes for rest, practice and administrative crunching. Our best to the Saint/Cardinals of St. Andrews and all the others out there awaiting our 2006 tour. Good luck with the shopping and bearing of the holiday music blast. Frosty was indeed a snowman.
12.04.2005 Kentucky...
We try not to worry about what they worry about but it can be hard sometimes. The Dude's pants are wet this morning for an unknown reason and Dan woke up in an arbitrary van somewhere downtown. (See what I mean). Two night stand in KY now complete after a stop in our home away from home in Indy. The van will soon be on its way back to bring us home and to the last show of our residency. Plans for world domination going as planned.
11.28.2005 Back in our homes
...from the journey of a lifetime. Awesome show in NC and worth the ridiculous trip. Thanks to all the post-turkey and tofurkey maniacs who packed the place to rock with us. Second leg o' residency tomorrow. Hope to see you then.
11.19.2005 Record Breakage.
Hot on the heals of a twofer yesterday starting with an awesome in store at our favorite record store to date (New World Records)and ending at Nietzsche's for the night cap, we are now off to band Mom Lynette's hometown for a show at Mojo's. Stay tuned for stories never heard before about adolescent Lynette and the effect she had upon the town as a whole.
What a wonderful dilemma. Of course to obtain Timmy Ho's or at least the true Maple you must be allowed in the country. We circumvented this problem and now we must figure out which coffee we prefer. The early lead is Spot's. Buffalo oh Buffalo you are cold and comfy as well as our new home for three shows in the next two days. Where are we? Buffalo.
11.11.2005 Back in the van!
Heading out right now for a show in CT tonight, and Boston tomorrow... Had a good break, and we're ready to rock. November has us driving to a lot of places, so check the tourdates to see when were in your neck of the woods.
11.02.2005 Honeymoon...
Willem and Sarah are on their honeymoon in Hawaii. Soo sweeeeeeeet! So to celebrate their wedding, and the events surrounding, I've updated the Hodgepodge section with my cellphone cam pics from the Vegas bachelor party, and also Willem and Sarah's Prenup. Check it out!
10.25.2005 Back from the UK tour...
Back safe and sound from th UK to the tune of Wilma here in NYC. Stay inside and be safe to all in her path. While you are hunkered down have a look at a new video we have posted on the multi-media page for the song "Going Away". Shot by the burgeoning film-maker and musician GABRIEL JUDET-WEINSHEL this video aims to please your eyes and hearts. We'll be back after a two week break and off to hit the road again soon.
10.23.2005 Greetings from Lancaster UK.
The Tour is wrapping up today and we are happy and sad. We will be returning home tomorrow but not before playing an encore show today in Miton to send this family off proper. Our apologies for the lapse in the tour diary. Lack of time has led us to the conclusion that we will have to finish those up stateside. Right-o-then.
10.14.2005 NYC is set to get Laced.
Repeatedly. Just confirmed a 3-week residency at the Cutting Room, starting November 22nd. Tuesdays, 7:30pm. This is one of our favorites rooms in the City, and we're 'jazzed' about this, as our mothers would say. Come by, have a drink: straight-from-work-suits will be embraced upon admittance.
10.13.2005 UK Tour Update...
Hallo all! We are in swinging Swindon right now about to play a show at Riff's, which won the best pub in England award this year. Most of you are probably having lunch now and we hope it tastes good and is sating. First lieutenant Chip just informed us they are ready for our soundcheck downstairs so off we go. Tour go good. We hope you are OK.
10.04.2005 New Tshirts...
Just in time for the UK tour, our new T-shirts are now available in the updated Merch section. Check out the 4 new Lemonade shirts, and even see them modeled! Ooh la la.
09.28.2005 Tour Update...
No Hodgepodge this week due to Bachelorizing difficulties. The Laces head to Deleware this weekend and then bone up for their jump across the pond the week after. We will be dropping news and many groovy things on the site before leaving. So brace thyself and thanks for stopping by San Diego.
09.19.2005 Two words...
iTunes, Lemonade.
09.14.2005 Hodgepodge and CMJ
New Hodgepodge up. Last minute CMJ slot tonight at the Cutting Room in NYC. Rock.
09.08.2005 Hodgepodge...
For those new comers be sure to check out our hodgepodge page full of misc. Lacesanity and love. Come back every Wednesday for new material updates. Welcome the Fall with open arms. Know we will be rocking in Hoboken New Jersey tonight and missing those who can't be there due to geography. Take care.
09.01.2005 Benefit...
Want to help the Gulf Coast hurricane victims and get great music all at once? Starting today and for the next week, all money that would normally come to us for sales of Sohcahtoa & Operation Income on cdbaby.com will go directly to the Red Cross, earmarked for hurricane victims. Now's the time to buy the album for friends, family, and strangers on the street. For each album sold: Breaking Laces = $0, Hurricane Victims = $8, Helping & Rocking at the same time = Priceless. Check it out - other bands are doing the same at cdbaby.com. Spread the love, the word and the music.
Lemonade is rocking at CDbaby.com. We are now on their "Top Sellers Now" list. Considering they get dozens of new albums on a daily basis, this is no small feat. Billboard, that's us knocking.
You know those super annoying gadget thingies that everybody's always yammering on? The world can finally rest! The God in Training ringtone is here! Cell phones unite in pleasant Laces tones!
You in or near Buffalo, NY? Well get your butt over to New World Record on Elmwood in Buffalo! Why? Well because we love them, and they are one of the few retail outlets in the country that have Lemonade on the racks. And not just any rack, it's a new release display. Help us keep the sales up, and they'll keep Lemonade on display for more to see! Thanks New World!
08.15.2005 More studio time...
I'm sitting in the hallway of an industrial complex. The rest of the band are inside TreeFort studios recording the best things we have ever done. (Pedro told me that if I voted for him for class president, "All of my wildest dreams would come true") I voted for Pedro.
It's here. Here being at Rob's house. Lemonade has landed. For those Street Teamers who pre-ordered, it's on the way. For those non-Street Teamers who just can't wait, well, wait. CDBaby has it - not yet posted - but they have it. We'll let you know the second (okay, the day) it's up & available for purchase.
07.26.2005 Lemonade update...
Oh hell yeah. Head on over to the music section, where we have added Lemonade! You can now check out three songs, and also get other info and lyrics. The CD will be in our hands this week, and ready for purchase by the 8th of August. For now, we just wanted to let you have a taste :)
07.23.2005 Lemonade update...
Just got back from B'lo, where we had a meeting to work out our touring situation for the next couple months before we hit the UK. Looks good. We got a few house parties coming up, and then we're gonna be hitting some of our favorite tour spots. If you still want in on a house party, contact the Street Team Miss through the contact page. As far as Lemonade, we've set a release date of August 8th. But you'd already know that if you saw the popup announcing the new CD and release date. Oh, you didn't see it? Well, make sure your browser is set to allow popups, and then refresh/reload this page, and see the magic.
07.07.2005 UK Tour announcement!
Meat pies here we come. That's right folks, we were selected out of a group of thousands to be one of three bands to take part in the CME Tour UK this October. They are flying us over and providing a bus for an 18 date three week tour taking us all over Great Britian. So you international fans, the Laces are coming. Off to Albany, then returning home to continue grinding it out. New album being duplicated as I write. Laces out.
06.28.2005 Want a gig?
Ain't no party like a Breaking Laces party cause a Breaking Laces party don't stop. No joke, in celebration of our new album "Lemonade" (out in two weeks y'all) we are taking offers to play your house- living room, backyard, washer, dryer, panic room...whatever. Just make sure you have a lot of people there to party and buy the new CD and we are there. (Legal Management Disclaimer: we may need to be partially reimbursed for travel expenses if you are really far...but then again we may not). Anybody interested please contact streetteam@breakinglaces.com Also of note: we have a new 8 minute short documentary of our 2004 tour on our multimedia page. New press page too..glowing Lemonade reviews expected shortly. And some sweet new pics are up as well.
06.20.2005 Tour Update...
How rock and roll is it to do laundry? Well, if it is, we're a rocking today. We are now back from our recent southern swing and currently cleaning our clothes with the help of machines. We warm up to the Roast on Saturday. We're reviewing artwork for the new album and practicing in Seth's basement to make perfect. Keep those house party requests coming. We'll be processing them this week and should have a good schedule soon. And if we can't make your place this summer, there's always next time. But let us know either way and stay cool.
06.15.2005 Greetings fellow robots...
...from the bed of our motel. I am sitting here playing online Scrabble with Rob while Seth showers and cleans behind his ears (just in case his mom logs on). There are some sunbathers by the pool that have also caught our attention. Seth is having a Fast Times moment with that vision right now. We are close to Atlanta which is in big trouble tonight. We also got word we passed the first round to win a competition which will put us on a great tour in the UK come October. I'm confused, there is so much going on.
06.12.2005 Album Update...
We went to Sony Studios in NYC to master the new full length Breaking Laces record on Friday and it is pretty much done. Maybe a few more tweaks and possibly a quick remaster to change the song order, but otherwise it's finished. Then, it's just some artwork and duplication and it will be available in a few weeks. Lemonade, bitches! We are off to Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday and will return in about a week after a show in Birmingham Alabama. See you soon.
06.06.2005 Sunburns suck.
Two words: farmer's tan. Honestly, I'd rather have strep throat again. But getting a sunburn in Buffalo, NY, the capital of cold, that kinda makes it cool. As does aloe. Heading to high school again tomorrow, and it seems we have chosen the cafeteria food over the faculty menu thing. I tried to fight it, but lost the battle, so beef raviolis it is. Things developing at a nice pace in Laceland. Saw some new t-shirt ideas too. ooohh la la. ding ding ding: new article in the press section.
06.01.2005 Updates updates updates...
The password to access this update area is suspect. You all should know that. The Laces rolled back into town after our South in the Springtime weekend bolstered by the two great gigs and the fact that a lot of good things are on the horizon. Our Music Page has been updated with a more complete and accessible look. We are also working towards our album release date to give a shine to many other areas of the site most notably the Hodge Podge section which has laid fallow due to craziness everywhere else. But it is on our radar as a big blip. Record Mix Master and Repeat.
05.25.2005 Tour news...
Headed to North Carolina tomorrow for a two date swing. Back in the van and looking for a tan. Studio sturdiness has brought us closer to the new album. Drop date tentatively set at June 20th and probably within that week. Hang in. Lemonade!
05.10.2005 Update time!!!
In the music section, check out some new tunes we added, some from the Whiskey Bar show in Hoboken, NJ on January 13, 2005, and some from the live set at the XM studios in Washington DC. Also, we added some *great* pictures from the Bowery Poetry Club show in NYC on March 13th. And to top it all off we've updated our tour schedule. Sure, there are some private parties, but if we're in your neighborhood, give us a wink and we might be able to pull some strings... Lastly, recording on the new album is coming to a close, and we should be releasing it sometime around mid June. Keep checking back for more details. Rock.
05.06.2005 We love you.
a lot.
04.21.2005 Hey baby...
You want it?
You got it.
Let's go.
04.08.2005 New Pictures...
As a way of celebrating our time here in Buffalo, we have added some pictures from the New World Record show here last October, featuring B'lonian Ana Vafai on violin. Check it out in the photos section...
04.06.2005 Video time...
What's up...we are in Buffalo shooting a video. Working with teenage ballet dancers, high school kids and a really cool Iraqi dude, Who knew? Back in New York on Sunday and ready to finish the new record! Still booking tour dates and will update soon. Atlanta and Alabama...get ready to be Laced in June. Kentucky see you on the 23rd. Baseball is back and so are the Laces. I'm so wasted right now. (I'm really not, I'm dead sober, but I felt like saying that). SM
03.28.2005 Extra. Extra.
Albany stands ready to be Laced. Governor Pataki enlists more police officers to deal with throngs of fans expected to descend upon the city. My dog is cute.
03.23.2005 I love wireless internet.
Sitting here live at a major band meeting. Planning, planning, planning. Booking, booking, booking, Getting the new record together. Talking about the website. Is this the year? I think so. Do you think so? Calling all cars...calling all cars. Breaking Laces Version 2.0
03.17.2005 No news is good news.
seriously...
03.03.2005 Pisces are cool.
We are in school (the studio). When classes let out, we will rock you all out. New tracks on the way, to make you feel gay. I am not staffle, so I'm off to eat a waffle. A Pumpkin Waffle at Tom's Diner which is around the corner from my house. It's the same coffeeshop where Suzanne Vega apparently wrote that song about sitting in a dinner. I hum it to my breakfast buddy to make her crazy. My cat's breath smells like Cat Food. Gold.
02.20.2005 LiveJournal
A fan of ours has created a new Breaking Laces community on LiveJournal. Now you have a place to connect with other fans and us. Rob has already used this forum to post details of our recent studio session. Check it out, and add it to your friends list!
Congratulations to the German Short Haired Pointer. What a pooch. Writing Lyrics fresh out the studio with awesome new tracks. New Album be good. It will be so good even a caveman will love it. That is not cool man. Help.
01.28.2005 New Music...
Hungry for some new music from the Laces? Well we got some tasty snacks for you! Ok no more food references, promise. But hey, in the music section, there is a new album called "Extras". This will be our new special spot to showcase some new stuff, redone stuff, live stuff, or whatever. For now we got 4 tracks there to keep you busy. Paranoid Android (our favorite cover), and a few other tracks of ours that people are always asking about. Get over there and check it out in the music section!
01.21.2005 God in Training video...
Finally! The video for God In Training is now up on the site! You can find it in the Multimedia section or by clicking on the link below. Also, in the photo section are behind-the-scenes pictures from the filming shoots. Thank you to everyone involved, fans, friends, techies, motorcycle drivers, directors, cheerleaders, etc.... We're very happy with how it came out! (one side note, the video is a heavy download and not recommended for you dial-up visitors. Get some cable ;)
Now that the guys have had a holiday to shake off all the free drinks you bought them during the double gig weekend tour de Neuva York, it's back into the dungeon. Up next to the treadmill and in between the space heater the boys have been making a wonderful racket in their practice space the last few weeks. The exploration continues today along with plans for us to contact our bodies and beings to you through this website. When the assimilation is complete, you will know (we'll tell you for starters). Until then be well and make good on those resolutions (unless one of those resolutions was to not have sex with us).
01.05.2005 Rob's been busy over the holiday break.
First, check the photos section. It's been revamped a little, and a lot of new series have been added, especially from recent tours. Be on the lookout for more pics coming soon! Also, there's a brand new section called Multimedia, where you can download wallpapers for your compy, icons for your chats, and ecards for your friends. More goodness on the way. Oh and now your "back" button works....
12.29.2004 Happy almost new year!
Hey, wanna vote for Breaking Laces Sohcahtoa as album of the year in 2004? We are in a poll on rkstar.com and have some heavy competition like Wilco, Modest Mouse, the Get Up Kids and the always formidable Geno K. The voting is going on until January 3rd, so act now. You can vote once a day by the way.
Be on the look out for three rock and rollers crashing the Santa stand at a Short Hills New Jersey Mall. The suspects in question call themselves "The Broken Shoelaces" and appear dangerous but are actually lovers in disguise. Philadelphia area police have informed us that the group is planning an appearance at a watering hole sometime tomorrow in order to lay out their final 2004 platform for anti-establishment behavior and peace on earth. Be advised the perpetrators are sexy.
12.05.2004 Hey all...
I just looked at our gig page and noticed that it is a little thin. You might be wondering what is going on. Well, after playing almost 200 shows in 2004, we are going to stay local for a little while and finish writing songs for the next album. We had a week or two of rest, turkeys and all that and now we are ready to roll again. Some interesting things are happening behind the scene so rest assured: 2005 will be the year of the Laces.
11.29.2004 Tryptophen
I found out last weekend that Turkey makes me sleepy but also less hungry. Strange bird. Hope all your holidays were fun. Things have been brewing in our corner for a while and I'm not talking about the coffee from Caribou. We are on the verge of some big things that will roll out both onsite and in the news. So come back often with the firm belief that the hodgepodge section will evolve, forever.
11.19.2004 Need to send a greeting?
Try our new E-Card!! Yup, like a chain-letter, you can send our new nifty e-card to as many friends as you want, and they'll of course love it, and send it to their friends. It's almost magical. Click below to check it out.
First we added a new article on the laces. Check out the press section to see the awesomeness. We actually saw this in print when we hit the deep midwest on our last tour, and it was a very welcoming sight. Also, theres a new section to the site called Hodgepodge. Basically its all the crap we want to show you that doesn't fit anywhere else. Check it out, we'll be adding a lot of stuff to it over time. Oh yeah...
11.12.2004 Back from tour.
We have so much in store for the coming weeks and months it almost makes us want to weep. Time to get to work once the barometer levels out. Only a few more chances to catch us live before the year runs out. If you're in range, come on down. To those who have written to us saying come to play where we've never played before. Tour 2005 will be for you. David Cross is a..........You've been Crossed my man.
11.07.2004 The midwest...
...has been very good to us. Even last night while driving to our gig at the Plantation in Owensboro, KY, I heard a commercial on the radio for the show featuring our music: God In Training and Plain Jane were featured. So now we head back to the East Coast with lots of coffee and dirty laundry to play a favorite haunt, the Galaxy Hut. And then we hit a string of Border's Books shows, which should be a nice change of pace. Philly we got our sights set on you. The Fire will rock. Adios amigos..
11.04.2004 Back on tour.
Killer show tonight. A little drunk. Not supposed to be political but still a little bummed that we have to eat Bush until 2008. I hope that musicians get tax breaks too.
11.01.2004 Rabbit Rabbit.
Heading out tomorrow for a two week swing starting in the swing state of Ohio. If our write-in campaign works and Rob is elected President, prepare yourself for the sexiest Inaugural ever. Frankenfurter = Big Executive Branch. Website to be bolstered even more in the coming weeks. We drive to bring it to you live.
10.27.2004 Tour Update...
I slept on the couch in my apartment last night by accident. It's a touring reflex. We are home and then gone. Tomorrow we drive to Virginia. Then we return to trick or treat, vote and it's off to Kentucky through Columbus, OH. We tour through Turkey day and look to a new album fully laced up by the end of January. The last leg of the tour was easily our most solid and fulfilling to date. I always rejoice when the crowd shouts "Hell, yeah!" on cue during GIT. Happened a lot last time out. Keep it up and we'll do the same. Deal?
10.18.2004 Tour Update...
Hey all...we are chilling in Ashville NC, having some tea in a cafe and taking care of some online duties. The tour has been freaking awesome so far. Thanks for all who came out to see us. We still have some more shows down south in NC, then we are going to head north to Rochester and Buffalo. Big show in NYC on October 25th too. Football is in full swing and and the baseball playoffs are raging. Life is good. I get to play every night and we keep getting better. Weird. The year of the Laces. SM
10.14.2004 Hello Charlotte...
We are back on tour. Willem is currently looking over my shoulder and trying to edit this entry as I write it. He just tried to walk through a Taco Bell drive thru, but that didn't work either. Check out the show section as we are booking up a frenzy and stay tuned for some new music coming out soon! Rock. SM
10.04.2004 Update...
Hey everyone! The Breaking News about Breaking Laces is that Guitar Center now has more money than it did yesterday. Why? Because we can't help ourselves. If they sold fire-breathing robots, we'd now have one of those too along with the Robot Insurance we all desperately crave (like they crave our bottled medicine). Rob should have never made a program which allows anyone in the band to update the news. See you on the road. When you lift the buddy glass, we'll be there. (Buy a T-shirt). I love you.
09.19.2004 Whats this all aboot?
Hey all, back from band camp. It was awesome. If you haven't yet, check out our experiences in the tour diary in the message boards. So we've got a couple local shows coming up and then we're off once again for another tour. We'll be spending October living in hotels from North Carolina up to Buffalo, with a return trip to Toronto to boot. We've also started getting in some fan pics. If you have some, send em to us at fanpics@breakinglaces.com.
09.09.2004 New Pictures
Big website update today. First, as you can see to your left, we've added pictures from band camp. Click on any other portion of the site, then click back to the news and you'll see a new pic. We'll be adding new pics as we take them, so keep checking back to see the latest. Speaking of pictures, we found some pics from our trip to Toronto earlier this year to play the NXNE festival. Check out "photos" to see those. We've also finally added "Operation Income" to our music section. Check out "music" to spin the CD and hear some samples. We've got more planned in the near future, so keep checking back to see the latest. Kickball has been canceled due to rain, so band camp is going to remain indoors today. Pie eating contest at 5:00 pm, and it's gonna be messy. Too bad the showers are busted...
09.06.2004 Band Camp Update
Quick update from band camp. All is well and we passed our swimming excercises and aced the rope swing. Rob is currently cooking sausages and we are going to play some new tunes later on tonight. We are learning a lot about ourselves and our bodies and we trying to stay away from the poison ivy. Londonderry VT is one chill place. Notice some new shows on the gig page...we are booking away.
09.02.2004 Merchandise online...
Hey one last thing before we leave. We are now selling tshirts through our website. Click on "Merch" to see our new store. Make sure you have pop-ups allowed on your browser, or you might miss out.
09.01.2004 Band Camp...
Because our webmaster (i.e. Sexy Rob) has set up a program of NASA-type standards, now anyone (well not anyone, but people other than himself) can enter a News section on the site. Scoop McMiller here to release a headline that is sure to send waves through the small towns of New England. Breaking Laces heads to Band Camp this week in Southern Vermont: Surrounding Area Braces Itself for Awesomeness. That's right folks, in a mere 48 hours BL will be on its way to a S. Vermont retreat to spend two weeks in a lock-out situation meant to allow them the time and space to up the ante on what is already a thriving musical adventure. In addition to the tunes will be mandatory morning aerobics and trust exercises on things like the woodland ropes course. The band looks forward to emerging from their sabbatical more healthy in both music and mind. Plus, during the inbetweens they plan to develop the website until it is beyond kicking. So stay tuned and remain frosty.
08.25.2004 On the Air..
Hey All! We're gonna take a break from recording to head to Albany, NY and New Britain, CT this weekend for a few shows. We will also be taping a radio show called "Download" for WEQX FM (102.7), which airs in upstate NY and Vermont. Everybody outside the area can check it out online when it airs this Sunday night from 8:00PM to 11:00PM (weqx.com).
New pictures from our July tour have been added to the site. And while we were at it, we re-did the pictures section. By the way, if you have any pictures of us, or Breaking Laces related, and you wanna see them on the site (credited to you of course), then send 'em our way. Email all your BL pics to us at fanpics@breakinglaces.com with maybe a little description about the pic. Thanks!
08.13.2004 RollingStone.com
Hey. Just a small note that the press section of the website has been updated with some new reviews, including one from RollingStone.com, and also a new interview with Willem. Hit the "Press" button above to check it all out yo.
08.06.2004 In the Studio...
Today is vocals day. So that means if you have a cold, stay away from us. Also, don't make us yell. August is in full swing, and that means its band camp time. So once we finish our stint here in the studio, we're off to Vermont where we hunker down in a secluded retreat, and do nothing but eat berries and shit good music. In the meantime, we do have a couple August gigs. Next week we play our favorite coffee shop in Jersey, Van Gogh's Ear Cafe. Also this month, on a sad note, we bid adieu to three fans (and friends), Mandy, Valerie, and Bryan, who each are leaving the country to go teach English abroad. What's the deal? Well this gives us one more excuse to tour Europe and Japan. Website news: The shows section has been updated, and now displays more info about each gig. Click and you'll understand. Ok, my turn to sing. Seeya soon...
07.28.2004 Home for Band Camp
Hey yall, we're home. After almost a month of heavy duty gigging, we finally have had a chance to get a decent nights sleep on our own beds and do some long-overdue laundry. Now we're gearing up for "band camp" which means we are secluding ourselves in our rehearsal suite and not coming out until we have more than enough material to record a third Breaking Laces full-length. Speaking of that, we're also gonna book some studio time before fall to lay down the love in the studio. Keep checking back here for sound clips from the studio, and also from our recent touring. In the meantime we have a show for you tri-state area fans this friday at this awesome looking place, the Canal Room. Check our shows section for more details, and we better see you there...
07.16.2004 Madison, Wisconsin
Black Iced Tea Lemonade at Starbucks is my new favorite drink. Not that Im all about corporate sponsorship, but hey, it's a tasty drink! We're huddled in the rain in a fore-mentioned coffee shop in Madison Wisconsin, and can only think one thing: the news! Well we are halfway through July, and this tour has been really exellent. Seriously now. Lots of new places, friendly faces, and (oh man) breaking laces. Sorry about that. So yeah, we're pumped for our Northern excursion through the cheese state and beyond, and really looking forward to the shows we have coming up. Check out this awesome radio spot below featuring Breaking Laces for our big Block Party show at Riehle Bros in Lafayette, IN next week. Our fall schedule is starting to come together, so keep checking back!
The new G4 laptop brings us many opportunities. For instance, the new possibility of writing a tour diary AT the venue, as Seth did at our last Border's show. Also, this edition of the news and the gig updates are fresh from the wing-man seat in the van on the way to Kentucky. And now a new plan has surfaced. Modeling the marvels of technology, we can take pictures while on tour and upload them right to the website while on said tour. Lookout NASA, soon we'll be touring the moon for a live scratch-n-sniff webcast. So the midwest has been great to us so far. The only ones giving us a hard time is ourselves, mostly for leaving stuff at gigs and having to make return trips to pick it all up (Melody Inn, hold on to those mikes). And we've been seeing some great bands that we normally wouldn't see, and some from our neck of the woods that we'll be glad not to see again. But regardless, we're kickin it, Rickki's kickin it, and Kentucky is an empty telephone.
06.25.2004 Tour approaches...
Tour is only a few days away! We're totally psyched to get into the NEW van again, litter the floor with sunflower seeds, and rack up new high scores on Yahtzee (Rob is the current leader with 676 points after a pentuple-yahtzee (that's 5 yahtzees) game). But before we leave, please check out our press section for a bunch of new reviews. And if you ever come across a review that you don't see listed on our site, let us know! Lastly, please help save Tong's ass. Wait, I mean Tongass.
Yup, as our little pop-up reminder says, Boston - you are about to get Laced. A while back, Willem used to grace Beantown with In The Attic and Charlie In The Box, and even his own solo shows. Well now, he makes a triumphant return with his new band Breaking Laces, and you folks with the weird accent have no idea whats coming. Check out our showdates page to see when and where to catch us, and if you missed the popup, turn your speakers up and click below to check it out.
Back in the minivan we go. Oh wait, scratch that. Back in the NEW van we go. Rikki the Red Rocket (a dedication to the drummer of Poison). He's huge, he's red, and he's our new apartment on wheels. All we have to add is a self-automated mechanical arm and a butane torch, and Willem will have the fire-breathing robot he's been longing for for years. So gladly we drive Rikki this week to our first appearance in Toronto to play the NXNE festival. But not before two shows in Buffalo, and followed immediately by our debut at Don Hills in NYC. We're thrilled, Rikki's thrilled, and Canada won't know what hit them. Jersey fans, get your Laces fix tonight at either Borders in Ft. Lee or The Saint in Asbury Park. Tomorrow we hit Borders in Ramsey, and then we're off for some cooler weather up north. Laces out!
05.25.2004 Sorry about that...
Technical update: There were some glitches in the Contact section that prevented emails from getting sent to us. So no, we didn't get your message. However, this is now fixed and you can try resending your message to us. Blame Rob. Always blame Rob. Also, good news for dialup users, we reduced the load time of the site by more than half, so the site should load in much quicker. Tour news: We are *thrilled* to be playing some home-area shows. Two shows this week will give our friends a good idea of what a few months of touring will do to our live show. Don't miss it! Then we kick off June with a trip up North to some new places. A huge Laces thank you to all of you who already have signed up for the Street Team, including our first international Street Team member Tomohiro all the way from Tokyo, Japan. Hell yeah, dog.
05.20.2004 June tourdates
May touring is almost over, and what does that mean for you? It means its time for you to check out our June tour dates! After all, you loved us the last time you saw us, and really don't want to miss our next swing through your town, right? The past couple days have been full of very little sleep, and a lot of film. We just finished the filming of the video for God In Training. We should have some really cool pictures from the shoot up soon. And as soon as the editing is complete, we'll post the video on the website for all to see. Don't forget to check out our tour diaries to see exactly what goes on in the minivan. And speaking of the minivan, we're just about to climb in for another set of out of town shows before May comes to a close. Huge thanks to everyone who participated and helped in the making of the G.I.T. video, and we'll see you all on the road real soon!
